League of Women Voters Greater Peoria
EMPOWERING VOTERS. DEFENDING DEMOCRACY.
League Updates
In lieu of our regular Drinks and Dialogue event this coming Wednesday, April 17, we will take advantage of a program offered by the LWVIL. The LWVIL press news release explains the program as follows.
“Diane Chang, Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the Brown Institute for Media Innovation at Columbia Journalism School and the former head of Election Integrity and Product Strategy at Meta, will speak about how to protect and secure democracy in an age of threats from social media and AI at a virtual meeting of the League of Women Voters of Illinois (LWVIL) on Wednesday, April 17, at 7 p.m. Central Time, via Zoom.”
Please note that the 7PM start time is an hour later than our usual D&D program start of 6PM. Let’s begin to gather at 6:30 for some social time.
President Romanus has registered us for the event, and we will connect via Zoom at our usual meeting place, the Lariat Steakhouse. We're anxious to hear some strategies to constructively respond to the changes in way that we receive information about our democracy.
